3,604 cups of coffee = 1 Mona Lisa

Artist assistants stand next to 3,604 cups of coffee which have been made into a giant Mona Lisa in Sydney, Australia.
The 3,604 cups of coffee were each filled with different amounts of milk to create the different shades!

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to get the coffee pot going…

Macbeth Rap [video]

Hilarious!

This link was provided in a reply to my twitter question: Would Shakespeare have been a better writer if he’d had a computer?  The answer: [Maybe, but I think he would've done hip-hop or rap.]

DON’T MISS this 6 part documentary on “NDE”s: Near Death Experiences [6 videos]

BBC
BBC (via last.fm)

These videos are part of a BBC documentary on near death experiences–the believers and the skeptics.  It is quite an interesting study.  Especially

  • The case of a woman who’d been blind since birth and describes her thoughts when she sees the afterlife.
  • The heavenly wisdom given to a shrewd businessman that changed his life.

But the most hair-raising testimony was of the woman in Part 4…She sees her uncle [3:29] and is aware that she’s surrounded by light.  “Is the light was God,” she asks. [3:50].  The uncle’s answer is nothing but spectacular [3:55]: “No, the light isn’t God.  The light is what happens with God breathes.”  She speaks to the interviewer and says, ” I distinctly remember that I was standing in the breath of God.”

Susan Boyle’s makeover and movie offer [photos/video]

SUSAN GETS A NEW LOOK

SUSAN BOYLE MAY HIT THE BIG SCREEN

Susan Boyle told the judges her dream was to be a professional singer and that she hadn’t fulfilled that dream because she never had the chance.  Well, she’s not only getting her wish but she’s also been offered a movie deal called Section B!

section-b I love that quote!

Darla Rae, who runs Film-It Productions in Colorado, says “Susan Boyle’s real life story is exactly what the movie Section B is about – chasing your dream no matter what. And I understand her completely, because our stories are almost identical. I promised my ill mother who passed away that I wouldn’t give up my dream of making films. So at age 47 I wrote, directed, and produced my first feature film, The Goal. We went on to win awards, and now we’re getting ready to shoot Section B with some amazing talent…

Susan studied at Edinburgh Acting School in the early ’90s but was forced to leave and care for her sick mother. I’d love to help her finally fulfill her dream of being an actress! We’ve even sent offers through the local Pub manager where Susan Boyle sings Karaoke. Hopefully our offer will reach her and you’ll see her on the silver screen soon.” says Rae.”  Source

Listen to Darla Rae describe the idea that birthed the movie and the synopsis…

I am SO HAPPY for Susan!

Perspectives Magazine is looking for “escape artists”

As the founder and publisher of Perspectives Magazine, I am looking for talented escape artists: word painters who can transport people into a magical world–like that scene in Mary Poppins when she jumps into the chalk painting with Bert and the children.  I’m looking for writers who can help the reader “escape” their pressured, stressed out world for a brief period.

Check out the home page and the two contests:

Watch Celine Dion and Elvis Presley sing a duet at the American Idol Gives Back show.  Celine appeared to walk out and stand next to Elvis as the two sang “If I Can Dream.”  It was all done with a hologram that was said to have cost between $50,000 and $100,000 to create.  Prior to the performance, Celine practiced with an Elvis impersonator.

Final Salute ~ A tear-jerking love story [audio/photos/video]

An example of a breaking news intro graphic
Image via Wikipedia

The photo at the right is appropriate for ‘heart-breaking news’ alert.  If you love love stories, this is a must.  Get the kleenex out…I’m unable to type for the tears so I’ll just let you visit the site. It’s all about Marine 2nd. Lt. Jim Cathey and his widow (little did I know that this happened in 2006).

The pictures were one thing but listening to the widow of this marine tell her story was the clincher, for me.  And then to hear what objects she placed in his casket and how Major Steve Beck described Lt. Cathey’s tear-soaked uniform was more than I could bear.

Show your respects here.

First, a bit of trivia:

STEPHEN KING: To beneift the Back Alley Theatre, King sent in a doodle that sold at auction for $225–the only known piece of published “art” by King, who readily admitted, in an introduction to a book collection of J. K. Potter’s photographs, that he’s no artist.
The cartoon shows a sun setting behind a tombstone bearing the words PLANET EARTH/SOMEONE HIT THE WRONG BUTTON/JULY 11, 1992/RIP.  The sketch is dated June 23, 1987.

See the celebrity doodles auctioned on ebay this year including

  • Dom Deluise
  • Ellen DeGeneres
  • Jay Leno

  • and a lot more!
